Boom in downsizing continues
With the cost of living putting pressure on households, downsizing saw a huge boom in 2022, rising by a massive 41%. Value downsizers, defined as ‘those who are moving to a cheaper property than the one they’re selling’, currently account for 43% of all home moves – up from 24% a year ago and now at the highest level since 2015.
Move while you can
With this trend set to continue in 2023, experts are advising homeowners to ‘make the move while you can, before you have to’. Whilst it’s inevitably a tough decision to make, imagine how much easier day to day life would be with a smaller home to maintain?
Park home living = less maintenance
As well as finance being a factor in downsizing, many people ponder on the thought of maintaining their garden for another year. As you look out into the garden and recall how much work it is to cut the lawn, trim the hedges and perhaps paint the fences, the appeal of less work appeals even more. You may have reached a time in life where maintaining such a large area can be too much work and therefor downsizing to a garden that can either maintain itself or doesn’t cover as much land may be the right decision for you.
